Taeyong was born second after an elder sister to parents who earned better-than-average incomes in the heart of Seoul. Even though he grew up in such a fast-paced and exciting environment, Taeyong's life was outstandingly unremarkable until he made it to High School.

In High School, several things started to change for Taeyong. His older sister, whom he'd always been incredibly close to, changed universities to one overseas. Being left alone at home with parents who were often away on business had Taeyong seeking out different ways to amuse himself. Some were positive. A friend from another country introduced him to a love of dance he'd never known he had. They'd spend hours with each other when they could, his friend using him as a test subject for all the new choreography that crowded his creative brain. Taeyong never minded and learned it easily. It wasn't a stretch to say he was a natural. When he couldn't dance, Taeyong started to play games. He bounced around between MMOs and team shooters before finally landing on League of Legends. From day one, he was obsessed with climbing the ladder and it wasn't long before Taeyong, passionate as he was, found his way in to the upper rankings on the Korean server.

Some of his outlets were negative, though. When he began to online shop, he had a realization that it was easy to just say you owned something or that something was in better condition than it was, get the money for it, and then pretend to have sent it or send something else entirely. It started small enough but soon began to snowball and unravel and by the end of high school, he'd become infamous in his school for having scammed dozens of kids. When he looks back on it now, he knows that was one of the dumbest decisions of his life.

It was also in high school that Taeyong began to come to terms with his sexuality. He'd always known something was wrong with him when it came to girls. He could never seem to muster up the same interest his peers did in girls and dating. It was that same best friend who first made him realize why that was. Dating one another may have gone terribly, but it did leave Taeyong sure of one thing; he was definitely gay.

College was a fresh start for him. Leaving the scams and drama behind in high school, Taeyong's initial plan was to lead a quiet life and fly under the radar but he should have learned a long time ago that plans never really work out. He'd happened upon the Lambdas booth at orientation and the promise of easy friendship and brotherhood lured him in. He'd decided to pledge on a whim but it didn't last long. Early on at a party, after being challenged to chug an obscene amount of beer, Taeyong had drunkenly made the mistake of trying to make out with the wrong, straight, guy. Needless to say, he was instantly kicked from the group. That mistake followed him through his entire freshman year and continues on to this day. Bullying in the form of online harassment on his social media accounts, having nasty messages left on his dorm door, and even having his phone number written up in men's bathrooms lasted the entirety of his freshman year and continues on even now in to his sophomore year.
